Floors Castle has been home to the Duke & Duchess of Roxburghe since the house was built by William Adam for the 1st Duke of Roxburghe in 1721. What you will see here is an evolving story of a house and the impressions left by succeeding generations. The roof alterations by the 2nd Duke, the external remodeling by the 6th Duke and the interior modifications by the 8th Duchess are just some of the changes effected over the years.

Like any family home, it is continuing to undergo change, and these changes reflect individual tastes and ideas which the we believe give the house its warmth, life and charm.

Floors is steeped in history and what better place can there be in which to work than a castle filled to the brim with fine works of art, timeless tapestries and a beautiful collection of antiques! Because we have such a keen interest, our knowledge is extensive; we can relate all of the castle's fine details as well as many quirky stories that are certain to enthral our visitors.
