Elsecar - The Powerhouse
Elsecar Heritage Centre Wath Road, Barnsley, S74 8HJCarefully restored early Victorian engineering workshops transformed into a visitor centre with a difference. It includes the PowerHouse and Science Track - dynamic interactive displays on power and energy.There is the National Bottle Museum, Hot Metal Press Printing House, Steam Locomotive and Newcomen Beam Engine. The Power House is an exhibition on its own which should take about 2 hours to complete and which is a popular tour for the schools in the area.

Leave M1 at Junction 36, and follow the brown 'Elsecar Heritage' signs. Free parking is available.
By Train.
BR services run from Sheffield, Leeds, Huddersfield, and Wakefield to Elsecar. From Elsecar Station follow the brown 'Elsecar Heritage' signs down Hill Street, continue onto Fitzwilliam Street until the junction at Wath Road. Cross over to Forge Lane and follow the signs for the visitor entrance.
