The Museum is housed in a superb late 15th century timber-framed building near the river Cam. It is one of the oldest private dwellings in Cambridge, which was the White Horse Inn until 1934. The Museum was founded in 1936.
Come and visit our unique and wide ranging collections, with nine display rooms which reflect the history of the city and county of Cambridge.

Location

It is located in the most ancient part of Cambridge, just a few minutes walk from the centre of the City.
Rail: There are regular trains from London throughout the day. Travel from either Kings Cross or Liverpool Street stations.
Bus: There are several bus routes which pass close to the museum. The Madingley Road Park and Ride bus stops in Northampton Street, around the corner from the museum entrance.
Car: If you are travelling from London, the M11 motorway is the quickest route to Cambridge. Leave at junction 13, and follow the signs to Cambridge city centre. The museum is also just two miles from the A14.
